Is attendance mandatory?
AI Exploration Day is a required academic experience for students and instructors who would normally be attending classes on campus that Thursday. Daytime classes are repurposed so students and instructors can participate in the event during the times they would ordinarily be in class. Students and instructors who do not have Thursday classes may engage through recorded sessions and follow-up coursework at the discretion of their instructor.
Do I need to register?
Yes. All NJIT community members received an email with an event-specific URL for registration. Attendees must use this link, select their ticket type (NJIT faculty/instructor, NJIT staff, or NJIT student) and complete the registration form. A registration announcement with a link to register and instructions was sent from the Office of the Provost on January 27th.
Do I need the Whova app?
Yes. Whova is required for, viewing the full program, and accessing session locations, and updates.
What if I don’t have class on Thursdays?
Students and instructors who do not normally have classes on Thursdays are encouraged to attend in person if possible. If they do not attend, they may engage with the event through recordings and post-event assignments.
Will sessions be recorded?
The keynote, panel discussion, and featured breakout sessions will be recorded and shared after the event. Due to the interactive nature of many sessions, not all breakout sessions will be recorded.

What is AI Exploration Day?
AI Exploration Day is a campus-wide conference-style event focused on exploring the role of artificial intelligence in education, work, and society. Through keynote talks, breakout sessions, interactive experiences, and a student showcase, the day invites critical engagement with AI’s opportunities, risks, and societal implications.
Who is organizing AI Exploration Day?
AI Exploration Day is a Provost-led initiative organized by a campus-wide Steering Committee composed of faculty, staff, and administrators from across NJIT. A full list of Steering Committee members and other community members supporting this initiative is available on the NJIT event website.
Who can attend AI Exploration Day?
AI Exploration Day is open to NJIT students, faculty, and staff. Invited guests from higher education, industry, and government will also participate in select sessions.

What types of sessions will be offered?
The program will include keynote talks, breakout sessions, interactive demonstrations, a student showcase, and an industry panel, covering technical, ethical, social, creative, and professional perspectives on AI.

What if I arrive late?
Attendees may join sessions in progress or attend later sessions as their schedule allows. The Whova app will help you navigate the program in real time to see what is happening at a given moment during the day.
What should I know about parking and transportation?
Parking is expected to be more limited than usual on the day of the event due to increased campus activity. Attendees are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for arrival. The planning team is coordinating additional parking and transportation options, including shuttle service, and more detailed guidance will be shared closer to the event.
When should I plan to arrive on campus?
Arrival times will vary depending on which sessions you plan to attend. Because AI Exploration Day will bring a high volume of visitors to campus, attendees are encouraged to arrive early when possible and build in extra travel time. Additional arrival and transportation recommendations will be shared as the event approaches.
Will food be provided?
